Straight feather bonnets such as this one are typical of the NW plains, in particular they are popular among the Blackfoot. They are occasionally seen among the Plateau tribes. One such item can be seen in the famous picture of Blackfoot chief Mountain Chief and Bird Rattler photographed by Gill de Lancey in 1916 stored at the National Anthropological Archives (Smithsonian Institution).
