This ornament can be traced to either Cook's third voyage or Beechey's Blossom voyage, 1825-28. J.C.H. King notes (1981 p.49) 'The only prior, recorded acessions which could include Aleut material are those of 1780 from Cook's Third Voyage, and that of 1828 of material collected by F W Beechey'.
