One of a group of pipes loaned in 1987-1988 to the Science Museum of Minnesota, St Paul, for their exhibition 'The Dakota before the War'. This show, celebrating Dakota culture, commemorated the statewide 'Year of Reconciliation', the 125th anniversary of what was then called the Sioux Uprising, of 1862, was organised with local tribal nations. Melissa R.Stoddart published a note about the project: 'The Dakota before the War' in 'Encounters', September/October 1987, pp.16-17.
