- Collected by Dixon during fur-trading voyage in 1780s. Exterior of handle marked "1789,5-22"; paper label immediately below "NWC 34"; "Queen Charlotte's Isles" marked on inside of handle. This item was originally registered as 1789,5-22.2 (see B&M Extracts Register, p.6), and subsequently included in NWC Slips series as NWC.34. The latter number is to take precedence acc. J.C.King, 5/1995. (AMD,5/1995); see JCH King `Artificial Curiosities of the North West Coast of America' BMP Ltd 1981.
