- Curator's comments
- Object Am.2532, a gourd vessel from Paraguay, missing since at least 1970. A register notes stated "Duplicate, 1871"; no Slip details were found. It was unclear whether object acquired in 1871 as duplicate, or previously acquired and assigned to duplicate collection in 1871.
In September 2013, during investigation of Americas duplicate collections, a gourd vessel and two cups were located with labels stating they were from Paraguay and from the William Gore Ouseley collection. Comparison between the vessel and Am.2531 shows that these are very similar objects. It has therefore been assumed that the vessel is Am.2532, removed from the collection in 1871 as a duplicate of Am.2531 and now restored, and that the cups are accessories to this object (numbered Am.2532.b-c) as no missing gourd cups are otherwise recorded from this collection.
