Lute with long wooden neck and rounded body made of wood covered with leather to form resonator. Two twisted gut strings are tied to pegs at the base of the neck and fastened to the upper part of the neck by leather thongs. Leather carrying strap is broken; additional doubled loop of hide bound with cotton thread and white, blue and yellow plastic sleeving attached to end of strap. Loosely attached to other end of hide loop is strand of elephant hair, knotted and bound with cotton thread with attached pierced coin (1/10 penny, British West Africa, 1950). Roughly circular resonator hole at base of lute above which is bridge under leather covering.
