Carding-tool used in the manufacture of chechias for raising the nap (pile). The carding part of the tool is made from the head of a 'chardon' (type of thistle). It is threaded onto a metal hook that fits into a narrow, hollow metal handle. A 25 centimes Tunisian coin acts as a stopper at the top of the chardon. Some red wool remains on the tool head. There is a black rubber stopper at the end of the handle.

- Eth.Doc.362. Tools used for the final carding of chechias (men's skull-caps) are traditionally made from a thistle-type plant (chardon) that grows in northern Tunisia. Today, metal carding tools are also used.
