Beadwork hat ornament; ?eglass beads woven onto fibre. Consists of white rectangular panel; small, with doubled row at bottom and top long edges, with extra horizontal raised row of beads towards top edge, where metal rod is inserted at rear. Decoration of central diamond shape in white with red border and one central white bead with blue stripes. Flanked on either side by borders of pale blue, dark blue, black and green (from centre to outside). Metal safety pin at rear.

- Because of duplicate photos, Jolles catalogue is out of sequence: this object corresponds with the Jolles' collection number 214. Jolles notes is worn by intombi, attached to hair at side, showing wearer has a boyfriend. If worn by insizwa it shows he has a girlfriend. In that case it is fastened to the side of his hide headdress (ichele).
