'(18) Knife - made recently in Labwor - western region of Karamoja. Labworeans are known to have smelted and worked with iron long before other peoples in the region (excepting the other mountain peoples in Karamojo, all of whom have long had iron-working skills unlike the cattle keeping tribes of the plains). Whether or not iron ore is still smelted in Karamoja is unknown to me - most things of iron nowadays seem to be from recycled hoes and ploughs.'
