- Description
-
Cloth (woman's wrapper) two hand-woven long rectangular panels (woman’s weave), made of hand-spun off-white cotton and two shades of indigo-dyed cotton. The two panels are sewn together along the selvedges at the centre, and both have the same complex pattern of warp striping, created by using sections of either shade of indigo, together with sections where white and indigo alternate. The weft is of dark indigo, but this is replaced by lines of white cotton to form lines of ‘hidden’ weft patterning which run along the whole cloth. There is no use of supplementary weft. The warp ends have been twisted to form long tassels.
