According to the Wellcome catalog card #160251, This object was purchased by Wellcome's Agent, Mr. Webb, at a Stevens' Auction Rooms auction October 17-18, 1933, Lot 362: (which according to the catalog was: "Two native carved figures"). The Wellcome catalog card reads: "Effigy: Carved wood, stained black; standing female; wearing dress and necklet, and pointed headdress, (one ear missing) 11 1/2" high. Belgian Congo."
