Adire: a single panel of imported European white calico cotton cloth, dyed in Nigeria using a stencil and starch resist to create a repeat pattern of spiral circles in 6 by 17 rows across the cloth. W.B.Fagg recorded that the pattern was known as 'Olokoto' (='snail shell').

- Part of a collection of adire cloth made in Nigeria by W.B.Fagg in 1953 (Af1953,17.1 to 25). See comment on Af1953,17.1. He recorded the pattern name, the place of purchase and the price that he had paid (in this case £1 8s). It is closely related to the following cloth, Af1953,17.20.
