- Note by W R G Horton in 1955 on Af1950,45.279 to 329: "Kalabari Ijo. Miscellaneous ritual staves from Toru Yana Owu (Guardian spirits of the Creeks) and Adumu (Python spirit) cult shrines. It is impossible to say which are from which, since although the python is naturally associated with Adumu cult objects, it is a general symbol of power, found frequently on Toru Yana Owu cult objects, masks, Amayanobu figures, etc."
