- Af1948,25.1 to 41 is the bequest of Mrs Austin Freeman, and consists of the main part of the collection of Richard Austin Freeman (qv) which he collected during his years as a doctor in Ghana 1887-91. (For the rest of the collection see her earlier gift Af1945,11.1 to 41). All the objects must date from these years as he never returned to Africa. Some are described in his book of 1898 (R. Austin Freeman, "Travel & Life in Ashanti & Jaman").
