Shawl/wrap composed of hand-spun cotton in both warp and weft. The predominant weave structure is plain weave, but there are also a series of rows of openwork. The warp ends have been left to form a fringe.

- Af1943,12.1 to 7 were given by Miss Rosa K Gibbs. The first five items belong together and form a single costume assemblage. See Eth.Doc.42 written by the donor in 1943 [omitting an introductory passage on the Hausa]:
"G. [presumably her father, Mr Gibbs] served in Kano in 1909 when he bought this costume home. He also served in Zaria, Zungeru, Port Harcourt, and Calabar. Hat is made from banana stalks which are torn into strips and then sundried. Hope this information will help'.
