4. 3 bamboo flasks. From the Wabena (Ulanga Valley). In certain parts of their country a bamboo is grown which produces a refreshing and heady wine. Groves of it may be seen near the villages. The bamboo is lopped and one of these flasks, its lip shaped to fit closely round the stem, is tied on to the stump in such a way that the wound will "bleed" into the flask. The wine ferments in a couple of hours.
