Sample, a small piece of European white calico cotton, tie-dyed with a figure of eight shape composed of tiny ties; three broad stitched bands come in form the sides. After dyeing and unstitching, these produce two contrasting patterns of white bands and myriad circles set against a very dark indigo.

- Af1934,0307.354 to 386 are a supplement to Beving’s ‘series illustrating the technology of dyeing’. The register records that he did not know where this sample came from, and the shape of the circles is dissimilar to others in the Beving collection.
