Lost wax cast figurative gold-weight, in brass, in the form of a female figure with a child on her lap. She is supporting the child with her left arm and hand. In her right hand she holds a calabash rattle (?). She is seated on an Akan-style stool (dwa) which surmounts a plain flat rectangular-shaped base.

- Af,+.881 to Af,+.963.a were given to the BM by A W Franks on 1 October 1878. This is a single collection that he had acquired from Mrs Elizabeth Dumaresq, which had been formed by her late husband John Dumaresq, while he was the Administrator of Lagos between 1874 and 1878.
Nos.938 to 962 is a group of Asante goldweights, which Dumaresq may have acquired while passing through Accra on his way to or from Lagos, or from someone who had been to Ghana.
