- Curator's comments
- The accession slip for the figure reads as follows ”South Africa. Statuette ‘Inhambane’ of light coloured wood, blackened in parts hair represented by cross hatching” and “ No 23. bought at Maraba-stad Transvaal.”. The printed slip records “EXCHANGE AMSTERDAM MUSEUM 9 MARCH 1891.”
A small adhesive label attached to the reverse of the figure, inscribed “No 23”. An ink inscription on the reverse reads “Transvaal”. The reverse also inscribed in pencil “Duplicate Maraba NW[?] Transvaal No 11 Sept [?] 90”.
