- Curator's comments
- Attached to the object is a very old hand written label in pencil on cardboard:
1 Spiked Head
ornament man's
[illegible initials]
The reverse of the cardboard label has the word 'HEADS' printed on it.
The attribution to Port Essington is given on the basis of the same label type, cardboard and handwriting as on 2020,Q.75. However, it is similar to Oc1939,08.15: a head ornament collected by John P. Rogers on Melville Island save for that this object is of wood, whereas the one collected by Rogers is of bone.
