- Curator's comments
- Combs of this general type are characteristic of Malaita. The red vine-strip is coconut-frond cuticle stained with Indian Mulberry (Morinda), the yellow is orchid stem. Burt 2009 Body Ornaments of Malaita, page:45 describes the manufacture for the smaller combs in Kwaio as researched by David Akin.
