- This t-shirt was made to commemorate 50 years since the signing of the historic bark petitions that paved the way for the Indigenous land rights movement in East Arnhem Land. It was worn during NAIDOC week 2013.
It was gifted to the British Museum by Wukun Wanambi and Ishmael Marika on behalf of the Buku-Larrnggay Mulka Centre on 18th November 2013.
Wanambi and Marika visited the Australian collection as part of the Creative Fellowship programme which was funded by the Engaging Objects Research Project.
