A large, rectangular, multi-coloured woven cotton cloth composed of seventeen narrow strips sewn together, with a fringe at each end. Each strip is patterned with a number of coloured segments which together form the overall geometric design of squares and rectangles. The central square contains a small, geometric motif which does not appear anywhere else on the cloth.

- Cloths of this type are known as 'drapeau' (flag) and began to be woven in the 1960s to celebrate the newly independent nation of Mali
