- Curator's comments
- In a letter to the October Gallery dated May 1999, the artist discusses new works he is yet to start work on, because the money sent to him to buy materials was taken by an intermediary. 'Dragon fly got by lizard' is mentioned in a December 1999 letter as an item which had been sent to London - Fame states he has still not been able to access the money sent earlier in the year. Therefore it is possible that the dragonfly sculpture was a work already in existence at 1999, and perhaps of a similar age to 'Tava Sirao on Ruki's Motorbike', made in 1977, and sent in the same batch to London.

- Acquisition notes
- These two sculptures (2010,2019.1 and 2) were sent to the October Gallery, London, following the success of the 1998 exhibition 'New Colours from Old Worlds: Contemporary Art from Oceania', which included material from Vanuatu, New Caledonia and Papua New Guinea (13 Nov 1998 – 23 Jan 1999). All of the works by Fame in this show sold, so the artist subsequently sent more of his work to be sold through the October Gallery. Both works are listed in a December 1999 letter from the artist, with suggested prices alongside.
