Slide (colour); a Wahgi courting party. The two girls (centre) have snatched the drums from the men either side of them as an invitation to them to leave the phalanx of dancers and engage in the courting practice known as man ngo. Tumbo (left) and Kauil (right) wear the long ceremonial headdresses (peng), made only during the Wahgi Pig Festival and topped with black Princess Stephanie Bird of Paradise plumes.
