Slide (colour); two men and one girl (left) in full festive attire practise the ritual actions that they will perform when they and their clanspeople charge onto the ceremonial ground at the climax to a Wahgi Pig Festival. Tongl, the youth in the centre, wears on his head a painted Geru board to which are attached strings which the figures on his left and right mime pulling. Photograph taken January 13th 1980 adjoining Kombulno, one of Komblo tribe’s ceremonial grounds, Wahgi Valley, Papua New Guinea.
