From a set of 'THE ROSE STEREOGRAPHS. PUBLISHED BY GEORGE ROSE, MELBOURNE, SYDNEY & LONDON', of photographs taken on a tour of Solomon Islands during Thomas Edge-Partington's residence there, photographer unknown. Same photo in album Oc,Ca44.80.
This photograph was taken by George Rose in 1907 for his series The Rose Stereographs. Rose travelled to New Guinea and Solomon Islands in the Burns Philp steamship Makambo on a five week round trip from Sydney. (see R. Blum 2008 George Rose: Australia's master stereographer.)
