- Series: Thomas Edge-Partington album 4
Digital image of a photograph of a group of New Georgia people outside a house situated against a rock formation.
- Curator's comments
- One of a series of unmounted prints (Oc,CA44.17 to 90, Oc,CA44.131 to 177, Oc,CA44.188 to 221) apparently obtained by Thomas Edge-Partington from the photographer George Rose, who published them in his series 'The Rose Stereographs' (of which Edge-Partington also had a set, Oc,CA47.1 to 128).
Rose would have met Edge-Partington, then District Officer in the Western Solomons, on his photographic tour of Solomon Islands on the Makambo in 1907. Edge-Partington's album captions, based on greater local knowledge, often complement or correct the captions Rose published on the stereographs.
