It seems likely that the image may have been in the photographic collection of the Bernice P Bishop Museum, indicated by the numerical stamp given on the reverse of the image.

Mr Kenneth P Emory (named in inscription) made studies of objects in museum collections, including in Paris, and this photograph may have been collected by him and brought to the British Museum. The photograph itself was photographed by a photographic printing studio "A Cintract" in Paris. The reasoning behind the Bernice P Bishop Museum stamp is as yet unknown. (Eherdman 2008).
