- The content of some of the images (eg studio portraits) in this collection suggests that they may not have been taken on the voyage of the HMS Royalist.

- This image is a copy print of an image from a collection held by the Fiji Museum, sent in 1985 by Fergus Clunie, the then Director of the Fiji Museum. The related documentation, PicDoc 198, suggests that this collection of images were photographed during the voyage of the HMS Royalist 1890-93, but it seems as though some of the images may in fact be from other sources.
