- A very similar image of Taraia Ngakuti te Tumuhuia is to be found in the collection of the National Library of New Zealand, Alexander Turnbull Library (Reference number: PA2-2820). Taraia Ngakuti te Tumuhui is also mentioned in the book: Taylor, Richard; 1855; “Te Ika a Maui, or New Zealand and its Inhabitants, Illustrating the Origin, Manners, Customs, Mythology, Religion, Rites, Songs, Proverbs, Fables, and Language of the Natives. Together with the Geology, Natural History, Productions, and Climate of the Country; Its State as Regards Christianity; Sketches of the Principal Chiefs, and their Present Position; With a Map, and numerous Illustrations”; London: Wertheim and Macintosh, 24, Paternoster-Row. It is possible that this carte de visite image is from a group of images that Bishop took of some Maori leaders who met at Kohimarama to discuss the Treaty of Waitangi in 1860.
