- Robert Lever's diary entry on January 27, 1936 reads: "Much rain. Came to Arigua + went for a drive in the truck, took photographs during a fine interval. (illegible?) on natives chests + backs very pronounced. ...", I believe this refers to the scarification pictured in this photograph.
