The staging of the Goroka Show started in 1957 at the Independence Park opposite the Goroka Main Market. First organised by Australian Kiaps. Kiaps from each district built their own traditional round houses to display their culture and brought singsing groups to perform. In total around 29 languages and socieities attend. It is a national event in Papua New Guinea calandar but has become more of a tourist event. It is also known as the Eastern Highlands Cultural Show. It is a yearly event which always take place near the 16th September - Independence Day. See www.gorokashow.com

- Katessa Schlosser donated this collection of three albums of photographs depicting tha Goroka show in the Eastern highlands of Papua New Guinea on the 23rd and 24th September 1978. The albums in the British Museum are registered: Oc-A24, Oc-A25, and Oc-A26.
