- Contextualisation: This shadow puppet is possibly from the Greek shadow theatre tradition of Karagiosis. In Karagiosis, a character known as the Persian or Acem is sometimes seen riding a horse. It is unclear what the origins of this shadow puppet are.
N.B. This shadow puppet may from the Palais Azem museum in Damascus.
