Glass negative (black and white); a group of Blackfoot or Nakota men standing on a lawn in front of the Banff Springs Hotel, they are wearing loin coverings, belts, arm ornaments and moccasins; some of the men are wearing warbonnets, and some are carrying bows and arrows; a group of White people are standing around the edge of the lawn watching the men; Banff, Canada.

Context: this image is B11/1 as described in the list in PicDoc 312, which states "Iroquois(?) at Banff Alta 1913 (Probably Blackfoot)."

Context: This image almost certainly depicts 'Indian Days' in Banff. 'Indian Days' were a First Nations gathering that happened from 1889 until 1978, and has been revived recently, in 2004. This particular image was taken in front of the Banff Springs Hotel, though at the time the photograph was taken, it may have been called the Canadian Pacific Railway Hotel.

- Purchased lot 93 from Phillips Auction house at their photographic auction on Wednesday March 17th 1982 at 12 noon. The auction catalogue entry for lot 93 reads:
"93 North American Indians, one hundred and sixty-eight glass negatives, showing tribes and their environment, many taken from books and newspapers, but some original, fifty-five family plates including London street scenes, early 1900's good condition (£30-50)."
These glass negative came with a list with the title "Glass negatives purchased at Phillips 1982".
The plates of London street scenes were transferred to the Museum of London in September 1982.
