- Curator's comments
- Albums Af,A46 and Af,A47 were originally in one album containing 176 photographs.
Main themes of album: Views of indigenous and European settlements, trading stations, roads, and Christian cemeteries. Portraits of European and indigenous people.
Geography: Sapele written on back of print, but inscriptions on the back of Af,A47.3 and Af,A47.4 locate it as Degema. (H Cornwall-Jones, 28/06/1996.)
Consulate is another name for Degema. Degema is one of the towns which people moved to from New Calabar after the civil war in the late nineteenth century. (N F Barley, 04/06/1996.)
