- Medallic Illustrations 2, published in 1885, states:
Rare.
George, the eldest son of Frederick, Prince of Wales, came of age on the 4th June, 1759, and on the occasion many loyal addresses were presented to him, to the King, and to his mother, the Princess Dowager. The type of the reverse testifies to the joy of the nation on the occasion, and expresses a hope that the young Prince would be a future strength and support to the country. The design may have been suggested by the 67th Psalm, "O let the nations rejoice and be glad," and "Then shall the earth bring forth her increase."
