Curator's comments
According to Philip Mernick, 8.3.02, '3 cranes' refers to the warehouse of the Fruiterers' Company at Three Cranes Wharf, London. It is likely that this object is an entry pass rather than a token (see also MG 1254). Two further examples relating to the Friteres' Company are held by the Museum of London (see Burn, catalogue of the Beaufoy Collection presented to the City of London, copy in C&M). Weight: 7.7grams.
