(The reverse is by Stothard, whose preliminary drawings for this medal are in the Royal Academy. He began with standing iterations of the learned arts which evolved into the seated figure of History with Fiction and three cherubs. The medal omits the cherubs. Stothard's ink and wash design is in the Prints and Drawing department of the British Museum.)
