- Medallic Illustrations 2, published in 1885, states:
Not common.
This piece is very similar but of better workmanship and in higher relief than Medallic Illustrations 2, published in 1885, states: p315.139. It was probably executed at a later date during James's residence in Rome, at a time when all his attempts to regain the crown of his father had failed, and when he had arrived at the conviction that his expectations of actually reigning were hopeless.
