- Curator's comments
- Medallic Illustrations 2, published in 1885, states:
Very rare.
William III, in the form of a lion, departs from England, and Mary II, as a lioness, assures him she will defend her cubs, the three kingdoms, during his absence, and keep under the serpents of Discord. In January 1691, the King quitted England for Holland, leaving the Queen as Regent. (see also Medallic Illustrations 2, published in 1885, states: p1.152 (registration no. M.7812).
