- Brown 1980 states:
This medal occurs with the edge inscribed with a name and volunteer regiment, either in impressed capitals or in script. Some specimens have a loop at the top for suspension.
The Ashmolean Museum has a copper or bronze gilt example with the obverse removed and an engraved inscription in capitals and lower case: ERIN GO BRA, / ROYAL VISIT / & IRELAND'S FESTIVE DAY/ This medal/is devoted to commemorate the Happy and/Gratifying Epoch to the Irish Nation by the Visit/His Most Gracious Majesty George the IV/was pleased to confer on this Kingdom 12th August 1821/An event Inspiring Ardent Love/Veneration & Enduring Gratitude of/his dutiful & loyal Subjects for/such his Benign Favor.
