- Brown 1980 states:
The tension which had existed between Princess Caroline and the Prince Regent had in no way diminished by the time of the Accession. In 1814 the Prince Regent banned his wife from Court and she left England for a tour of Europe. Caroline returned to England upon hearing of the death of George III.
'A medallic portrait of Her Majesty' by Rouw was exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1821, No. 1055; presumably it was for this piece. See also Brown 1 p92.391.
