- Brown 1980 states:
Struck for one of the Orange Societies which were formed by the Protestants in Ulster, in 1800, to gain support for the defence of their religion and rights in the face of concessions obtained by the Irish parliament at Dublin.
These pieces are occasionally found with a loop for suspension. Frazer mentions having a specimen in white metal.
