- Curator's comments
- Brown 1980 states:
This medal, although signed P. Wyon is said to be the work of William Wyon, see Carlisle. Sainthill, too, ascribes this work to William Wyon, see also 'Olla Podrida', vol. II, p. 403. The reverse design probably alludes to the celebrated song 'The pilot that weather'd the storm'. The medals are frequently to be found in a glazed case with a loop for suspension. See also note to No. 703.
