- Brown 1980 states:
The L on the reverse of the medal refers to the fact that the medal was struck in 1810, the year that George III celebrated his golden jubilee. The dies for this medal are, according to Frazer, preserved in the Royal Irish Academy, and Frazer himself owned the original wax model.
