Composition of medal:
89.9% Cu, 5.5% Zn, 0.9% Sn, 1.2% Pb, 2.1% Ag, 0.4% Sb.
Refers to the death of Concino Concini, killed on the drawbridge of the Louvre by the Marquis de Vitry, on the King's orders.
Possibly copied from an engraving in the Bibliothèque Nationale, done a few days after the event (see 1). The scene derives from ancient coins struck under Trajan Decius in Side and Marcus Aurelius and Elagabalus in Hierapolis.
The unusual alloy is similar to that of registration no. G3,IP.1104 and it is possible that they are from the same source.
