Composition of medal:
89.6% Cu, 4.4% Zn, 2.5% Ag, 1.6%Sn, 0.9% Pb.
As registration no. M.0637. A, possibly contemporary, copy.
The relatively high silver content is unusual, as are the other proportions of the alloy (which is similar to that used for registration no. M.2253). The silver has not coloured and was presumably not intended to colour the metal, so it can only be assumed that it was introduced accidentally.
