Curator's comments
Tomasini, p. 301, pl. C, no 12 notes a coin similar in style to this one. Both, Tomasini's and this coin present a vague Visigothic style on their types, especially on the reverse (Victory to right with a big wing on her back). This coin could very well have been produced in Southern Gaul. The name of Justinian on the obverse perhaps leads to consider this coin as having been struck in the years 530-540 AD, inmediately after the collapse of the Visigothic and Burgundian kingdoms in Southern Gaul, and before personal Frankish royal names became fashionable on coins.
