Curator's comments
The attribution of this four-siliquae piece is a matter of controversy. It has been attributed to Constantine I and to the last year of his reign (337), but, as the portrait does not particularly resemble Constantine I, and since known examples of this denomination are in the names of Constantius II and Constans as Augusti, the portrait is probably more correctly to be identified as that of Constantine II.
